Bignot or Cowley? Westley or Jones? Adkins or (insert name here)?
Danny Cowley's record is excellent. Marcus Bignot would be cheaper though (not under contract).
Or maybe an unemployed manager for the same reason? I would be amazed if the club didn't at least sound out Adkins even if he didn't apply. He can only say "no".

I see the rumours appear to be currently pointing towards Bignot.
I feel a bit uneasy about this- been at Solihull for 5 years in the same league and only got them up last season. This season they seem a bit average. However that's all I know about them- maybe they didn't have any money and he did all this on a tiny budget and jumpers for goalposts. Reading a bit about him, he seems to have been coaching for almost as long as he was playing.

To be fair to Bignot, Solihull were a right financial basket case when he took over, and they're still a very small club in the Conference.

At a club 5 years, only 1 promotion. Get on the phone to Shrewsbury and tell them we've found their next manager.

To be fair to Bignot, Solihull were a right financial basket case when he took over, and they're still a very small club in the Conference. So is every other club at that level that haven't got somebody bankrolling them. All I'll say is Nicky Law did the same at Alfreton and a lot quicker. Maybe, he'll be brilliant for us? I think a FL Novice is a huge gamble when the club still has momentum. Are we looking up or behind us?

Hurst was a FL novice in August, granted he knew the football club well by then. I'll wait to see how we get on before I pass judgement.

I'm quite happy with the appointment. Waiting for the 'cheap option' brigade to mount their 'We could have had Allardyce' or 'We needed Adkins' rants on the FishyFFS
Golly, using Nicky Law as an example is the lowest of the low. I know he got us relegated from a position of safety on the last day of a season. He was quicker than Groves or Woods at getting us relegated.

I can't see how anyone can prejudge Bignot either way. He seems to have a decent pedigree at a lower level and be a funky kind of geezer, but he is unproven at this level. It is a bit of a gamble but I can't say it is a bad appointment as he could be great. Equally he might not be. Nobody knows.

Certainly interesting times. Anyone watched Bignot meeting the players- interesting to watch something like that. As ever though, I had to remind myself when John Fenty was addressing the players that this was actually real and not a fly-on-the-wall comedy. And why in November, is he thanking the players (most of which weren't with us then) for getting us promoted? Has he not seen them since May?
Anyway- Marcus makes all the right noises. Fingers crossed it works out.

Aye, a bit of me is slightly worried that he talks well but he can't possibly manage well as (erm) well. Surely we can't have both can we?

Of course it's early days but I'm a bit uneasy to see our form over the 6 matches of Biggie's reign. After the giddy heights of Plymouth away, it's like we're getting a little bit worse each game. Shame it's not the other way round.

We're a one man team and the other teams have figured out that the best way to stop us is to stifle our midfield and stop them getting the ball to Omar. What they didn't realise is that this would be very easy due to the fact that our midfield is poo.
I think Biggie should be given the benefit of the doubt and allowed to bring in his own midfield rather than the one that Hurst brought in which was obviously supposed to be bypassed.
