Great news. If he sticks it out he'll have been with us for 7 years! Can't remember the last player to stay that long (excepting the other Macca of course).

Lovely stuff. Agree about the backup too, especially now we get 7 subs.

That's got me thinking about a player who's served that long other than Macca MK I, Groves didn't do it in a single spell.
Err....Kev Jobling?

Livvo must have been here 7/8 years too.

Aye. Wasn't Livvo brought in by Buckley MkI and was around until the new millennium.

I'm not a great fan of Mckeown, but I seem to be in a minority. Best of luck to him (and us) anyway.

Aye. Wasn't Livvo brought in by Buckley MkI and was around until the new millennium. Must have been just shy of 10 years with us. I seem to remember him signing about 1993, definitely remember him that pinstripe Ciba kit. Last thing I remember him doing of note was setting up Oster's last minute winner against Rotherham in 2003, after getting booed by some when he came on - same season as his horrific injury against Derby, which he was never the same afterwards).

I could never understand why he was always voted best keeper in non league. Don't get me wrong, he's a great shot stopper, unless they're from distance. He's pretty quiet for a keeper and there have been moments of confusion when a defender is shepherding the ball back. On the plus side though I've never seen a keeper get so angry at conceding, even if its a worldy that's given him no chance, his close range work and one on ones are great. I think he's deserved his chance in the league but we should have a decent back up just in case.

Think that is a good summary Barmy. He clearly has faults and that's why he is at the level he's at but he is 26 and has a few seasons experience behind him now, whilst coming up to the best years for a goalkeeper. I feel we need an experienced keeper for him to work with and push him to be better than he is currently. He may even find himself out of the side if we sign a good back up. It will be a while until we get back to having keepers of the standard of Danny Coyne.

When you consider his age and how goalkeepers generally don't peak until they are approaching or past 30, he's been an excellent goalkeeper for us. Well apart from the first month of the season just gone when he hadn't recovered from his illness.
You only have to look at the muppet the village people had in goal in the Promotion Final. I would blame him 100% for both Bogle's goals.
