One nil up against a slow, dispirited and beaten Russia with ten minutes to go. That's the time to make negative substitutions, go deeper and deeper and invite them onto you. Well done Roy!

I find Lallana so frustrating. His decision making in the final third is appalling. Prime examples being his through ball when he must have known his teammate was offside and he himself being totally unable to hold a run and stay onside himself.
For what it's worth, if we play as well against Wales well hammer them. Wales will have a go at us and that will play into our hands.
I would expect UEFA will effectively throw Russia from the tournament. They can't act when ticketless England "fans" get into fights with local gangs, rival fans and French rozzers, but the sort of scenes in the stadium were the worst at a tournament since Euro 1980. A 3 point deduction will all but knock them out.

Aye.
I just don't get Sterling at all, either. Great runner with the ball, fantastic quick feet, but no brain and rarely achieves anything. I was delighted when he came off because I thought Vardy would be on, but noooo.

Its like watching Town. You can be battering a team but still know that a one goal lead isn't enough. You go into injury time almost knowing the opposition are going to score. Sterling reminds me of Paul Emson. Just runs until there is no more pitch without thinking of doing something with the ball before he reaches the bye line.
Over all we looked good but they've got to score more after being so dominant. Going in at half time 0 - 0 was a warning.

I hate it when people say - "well, we didn;t win, but we played well!' The purpose is to win. If you play nice football without winning, you're going home.

We played well. Shame we didn't win. On another day we would have buried Russia.

More often than not we lose or draw these type games because we're not good enough and don't look remotely good enough.
We drew against Russia because we were wasteful in front of goal, despite creating loads of chances. Switching off at the death was frustrating but that's football for you, especially with a relatively young and inexperienced side out there.
I would genuinely be more concerned if we had spawned a 1-0 win and looked flat and lethargic. We looked very decent, full of pace and purposed. The two 'wide' lads in Lallana and Sterling were pretty much ineffective and I think the decision to not take Townsend looks even dafter now, especially after ditching that fucking diamond formation. Rooney in midfield fits much nicer than shoehorning him in the attack. It gives us someone in midfield who is comfortable enough on the ball to sit with the ball rather than try to get rid of it straight away - I think he and Drinkwater would have been absolutely perfect as the two deeper midfielders.
Wales have got a bit too cocky for their own good after their scuff aided win over Slovakia. The goading by Bale of the England team will backfire on him big time, I think they'll fancy their chances too much and get picked off quite comfortably (as Golly mentions above).
