is gonna bless the rains down in Africa.
No sorry he's signed for Hartlepool.
Whilst I would have liked to keep him, I can't say I'm distraught that he's gone. Too prone to mistakes which in the majority of cases he could recover from using pace. I don't know whether that will work as often in the League. He helped us back into the league and so I wish him well.
Just wonder why he chose Hartlepool, are they awash with money or are we offering crap contracts?

I'd also like to know why he chose Hartlepool. Seems a sideways move to me, so it's either for personal or family reasons as Toto says, or they have given him more money, which is worrying if true. Some suggestions around that we are not offering much in the way of pay rises now back in the league.

Heard a few whispers of a budget that's far from the suggested promotion push by Fenty.
How much truth is in it I don't know but the fact Toto is moving for personal reasons worries me. I doubt location comes into the personal element of it so it's fair to guess it's down to money (don't blame Toto for taking it either).
If we're unable to compete financially with fucking Hartlepool when we've got a 'competitive budget' I would hate to see what a non-competitive budget looks like.

That's odd if they can outspend us. They must be running up some debt.

Arnold apparently off too.
This is starting to seem very odd- a team supposedly very close knit that won promotion and a good amount want to leave.

So it was the fans' fault.
The lad sends out conflicting messages.
If there was racial abuse it should be sorted out properly. Even if he is leaving. Was a complaint ever made to the Old Bill and was it investigated?

Not a massive loss and is replacable, an error a game in him and very hot headed. The only player imo who will be hard to replace is Nolan as even when amond goes I can't see him having another season like last one.
Arnold leaving surprised me but again is replaceable as has one decent game in about 5 and is anonymous for the others. If players don't want to be at gtfc for whatever reason then we move on as we always have.
Hurst generally gets his summer acquisitions right and in a month or so I can see him having built a squad to compete in the top half of league 2. It's about getting the team spirit and togetherness of last year's squad with added quality.

Would be interesting to see how many players left other newly promoted teams that were then successful. I know Bristol Rovers retained their's pretty much entirely but no idea about others.
It is concerning though- you would imagine that all those offered contracts would have signed almost immediately with them getting promoted. That said, you only want players here who really want to be here of course.
As an aside, can't think Toto's public statement about abuse from the fans does much to sell the club to prospective players.

I think Toto has gone for the money but found a convenient excuse. I have no doubt that he was racially abused by a very small minority at Halifax but he made no mention of any ill feeling in his farewell tweet yet managed to get it in the Telewag farewell. Hartlepool though, I thought he wanted to move closer to home yet he is now further away, in the end it's money.
This raises the other question about what sort of money we are offering.
Tait I can understand the chance to play in the SPL plus Motherwell can undoubtedly offer more money and he genuinely is nearer home. Arnold could've been on his way to Stevenage if the deal hadn't fallen through, I mean, Stevenage!
Something smells.

I am guessing the club/Hurst isn't offering players the sort of money they think they can/should earn in League 2. Is there a budget problem? Or is it that Hurst sees their roles as being less important and has offered them wages based on them being squad players. Or is it a bit of both?
I appreciate that we won promotion, but we really did stumble over the line. We got promoted with the lowest points total ever to get out of the National League/Conference. It would probably be naive to think that the squad we had could compete at the right end of the table in League 2. Hurst needs to find quality players all over the pitch. He's going to struggle to do that if he is paying the likes of Nsiala, Arnold and Tait more than they are worth to Grimsby Town in 2016/17. Hurst needs to get the best possible value for money out of every single contract he gives out.
If Toto thinks joining a team who haven't had a top half finish in any of their last 9 seasons is a good move for him then good luck to him. Maybe Nsiala is worth more to Hartlepool than he is to Paul Hurst and they have offered him a contract that reflects that. It's just disappointing that Toto has used non-existent abuse as a reason for leaving rather than be honest.
