I'm not renewing my season ticket if we sign Striker Y. He's shit! Striker Y used to play for York City so it's a done deal.

Calling LJL a 20 goal striker is stretching it a bit and you also have to take into account the level we were at when looking at the strikers we've had who have bagged 20 or more in a season. If Hurst can find some to do the same in the league, then fair enough.

He scored 20 goals in a season, you can't argue that. Yes he isn't what you would associate as a free-scoring striker and I would never in a million years want him signed as THE goalscorer in the team, but he still got that many goals in his last season with us. Andy Cook must have gone close in his first year too? Ross Hannah, for a change in tactics, would probably have hit 20 easily every season. In that loan spell with us, Hannah was the best natural finisher I've seen for a long time in a Town shirt.
Yeah we were at a lower level but it's all relative isn't it? Whatever level you're at you'll recruit to that level, if it was as easy as non-league clubs signing Championship quality players we would all be managers.
We're no different to any other club, finding a goalscorer is difficult. I just think Hurst is better at it than people give him credit for. I'm actually pleased he would rather wait as opposed to bringing strikers in for the sake of it. We've been burnt far too often in the past by bringing bodies in for the sake of it.

Northampton walked League Two last season and their highest scorer (Marc Richards) only managed 15 goals. You don't need a 20 goal striker, you need an 80 goal squad.

I haven't been to any of the pre-season games this year. Looking at the goals from the Sheff Utd match on YouTube I think we are desperately in need of another centre-back. Someone with the pace of Nsiala, but better levels of concentration would be good.
And obviously we need another striker too. Hurst is probably looking for a LJL type.
And with no loan window we need a goalkeeper option. The thought of Andy Warrington in goal for 4 months if McKeown gets injured on 1st September doesn't fill me with confidence.
Apart from that we're about done. We just need Hurst to work out us best team.
