I suppose in the Trust Board's favour Swin, they did have the support of the (rather spineless) membership in that vote.

There was that. The Trust Board struck a poor bargain then. The membership should have been willing to put some backbone into them. We needed then and still need now more stroppy bastards as members.
Golly?

I suppose in the Trust Board's favour Swin, they did have the support of the (rather spineless) membership in that vote. Exactly! The Trust put that to a membership vote, which opted to hand the shares back to Fenty. That was democratic. How the vote went is nothing to do with the Trust board but rather the membership as a whole. I voted emphatically to not give the shares to Fenty but I know a lot were swayed by his threat to sell Hearn at the time (I think was what was put on the table anyway). In all honesty I don't recall the Trust board recommending anything to their members, but I was already decided on how I would vote regardless. If there was persuasion or recommendation, it would only have been by board members fairly elected by the membership. Don't like it?? Put yourself forward. It's that simple.

And look how long Hearn lasted after that as a fit player! And people were pointing out at the time that this could happen. The Trust Board may not have recommended the deal but it's a bit disingenuous negotiating something and then claiming neutrality.
As you say, that's democracy. But as the boys from Auchtermucty sang, "What do you do when minority means you? What do you do when the rest can't see it's true? Ah ahh ahh!"

Did they really negotiate it though? As far as I recall Fenty put it to the Trust that he wanted the Parker shares for the good of the club, they put it to their members to vote on. Anyway, it's all in the past now. Getting off topic, Golly join the Trust!

Golly for the Trust Board. Treasurer with his love of stats. No, I live too far away and to be honest I don't see the point in a Supporter's Trust at a club where 1 man has ultimate control over everything.

So what's the point in whining on an internet forum if 1 man has ultimate control of everything anyway? Surely nothing will ever get achieved!

What have they achieved?
Operation Promotion? I'll wait until the accounts are released and see if the money raised meant Hurst's budget was increased or whether Fenty's subsidy was simply reduced.
But the one thing they definitely did do was hand £150,000 worth of shares to John Fenty (a multi-millionaire) for free.
The Trust should be looking after the interests of Town supporters. But they seem to be in bed with Fenty and unable or unwilling to do it.

Tell you what, you keep whining on the internet and picking apart the efforts of people who are trying to improve things.
If you get something out of that, good for you.

There's another way of looking at this Golly. You could give up and whinge or you could try to do something about it. Have a go at the decision by all means but try to change them from the inside. Grantham's not that far. Don't the Trust board meet on match days?

Tell you what, you keep whining on the internet and picking apart the efforts of people who are trying to improve things. If you get something out of that, good for you. If somebody willingly takes an elected position (even elected unopposed) in any sort of organisation they have to accept criticism along side praise. If people are that thin skinned then they should probably stand down for their own sake. I am quite entitled to my opinion that it is shameful that families have been hardest hit by the ST price rises. An adult ST in the Upper Youngs have gone up 6%. 1 adult taking 3 children into the Pontoon or Main Stand have seen their total outlay go up by over 18%. And I 100% stand by what I have been saying all along. The fact that a football club which promotes itself as a community club has done this to families is appalling. The fact that the Supporters Trust which claim to "Connecting Club and Community" have not only said nothing about this, but have been used by the club in their propaganda is shameful on the Trust. I posted some stats on the Fishy where we were the 2nd costliest club to follow in League 2 for families. Guess what? Barnet have backed down and introduced discounts on families joining together. GRIMSBY TOWN HAVE THE MOST EXPENSIVE SEASON TICKETS IN LEAGUE TWO FOR FAMILIES. How can that be right for a club based in an area with Child Poverty levels like Grimsby? It isn't right. And the Trust should grow a pair and say that. KingstonMariner - Not just a distance thing. I have a few other things I would rather do with my time if I had a bit more spare such as get more involved in local politics. A Supporters Trust would be very low down my list. And that is my final contribution to this thread

Maybe they should be big, brave and bold like you and say everything from the safety of their PC monitor?
Next time Fenty walks past you at BP, I presume you'll challenge him on the ticket pricing?
