0 points at home so far... gotta be a draw tomorrow hasn't it? I'd be more confident if they had maximum points at home so far.

Always a bad sign to a Mariner innit when you see stats like that.

5 games without a goal from open play. Not good.

Same old same old, but in this division the odds are on our side.

There is growing frustration for me. We have a very talented squad- there's no reason why the squad we have couldn't win promotion. But Hurst's inability to find real consistency is hurting us again. And I don't get why he won't start with Scott Vernon. Other than Bogle we're struggling for goals. Vernon is the only striker we have who had started a Football League match prior to this season. Only 7 sub appearances from Tuton between the other 3 strikers.

I don't think it matters who we play up front, we're not giving them the service.
Big benefit of putting Vernon alongside Bogle is that it would hopefully take the pressure off Bogle to be that target man. That said, if Vernon plays there's more concern for Bogle to do all the leg work and end up playing out wide and/or dropping deep. At least with Tuton or Jackson up front there's someone else capable of doing a bit of running.
Big problem for me is that none of our midfielders are capable of pushing forward at will, Summerfield does it a little bit but not often enough. There's then a massive gap between the strikers and our midfield, or if Vose cuts inside we have a massive gap on the left and Bogle ends up drifting out there to fill in.
I would like to see Vose playing as a proper No 10, probably behind Bogle. Two proper wingers stretching their fullbacks and then any combination of the midfielders doing protective roles for the back four, which would also give our attack minded fullbacks a little bit more freedom to push forward.
Y'know, a bit like the system Hurst bought these players in for initially...

I could go with that. Like the idea of Vose behind Bogle.
