Aaaaaarrrrgghh OMG and other such utterances. Shrewsbury may have made an approach for Hurst and he may or may not accept.

I'm free this afternoon if we need someone to drive him to Shrewsbury?

Can someone contact the Samaritans and warn then that they might be getting suicidal calls from FishyFFS mongs if Hurst heads for the exit?
Seriously though, either he's going (hopefully) or he's using this to get better terms and will stay with a new (and improved) contract.
We have a very good squad, you could even argue we have under achieved a bit this season when you consider the performances at Colchester and home to Orient & Hartlepool. There are plenty of good managers out there who could carry on the good work of Hurst but add some consistency- something which has always been Hurst's weakness.
Nigel Adkins and Micky Adams for instance.
I'm grateful that Hurst got us back in the league, but it took him 5 long years. He was lucky to get that long, he certainly wouldn't last 5 years at Shrewsbury if he hadn't achieved his main/only objective.
In summary... Not bothered if he goes.

I'd prefer him to stay but only because I can't think of a worthy replacement.

I'd like him to stay as I'm comfortable with our steady progress this season and its panning out pretty much as I'd thought (ie stabilise in League 2, push on next season). And does anyone really have any faith in majority shareholders stumbling on a decent replacement.
You have to have a wry smile at the hysteria over on the fffs- "how dare nobody say exactly what's going on! Its a fucking outrage!" Yes, the best way to negotiate hiring a new manager/ leaving a club/ not leaving a club is to do it through a continual series of public statements so everybody can keep exactly up to date with what is/isn't happening minute by minute. Why doesn't he leave/not leave via twitter for crying out loud?! Supposed to use computers an' that isn't he?

If/ when he does go to footballing monolith Shrewsbury it's hardly a ringing endorsement of the set up at GTFC is it.

Something isn't right at Town. It's odd that Hurst didn't sign a new deal after he (finally) got us promoted. He's on a 6-month rolling deal after all and although I am sure a promotion pay-rise was probably written into that contract. Whether a new contract was offered and rejected or turned down by Hurst the fact that nothing was agreed points to a strained relationship. And the fact that he is even entertaining the possibility of joining Shrewsbury seems to point to him looking for a way out or a plan B. And the fact that the club has allowed this to drag on for 3 days and counting (interfering with a league match in the process) seems to suggest that maybe Fenty and co aren't really too bothered about keeping him. I think most clubs would have removed the manager for the game in the same circumstances to force his hand either way. There doesn't seem to be much urgency from either side to continue.
IMHO it has to be settled tomorrow (Monday). If Hurst doesn't pledge his loyalty then the club should stick him on gardening leave and force him to resign and head off to Shropshire. I honestly think Fenty probably wants him gone, but doesn't want to sack the only manager to get us promoted in the last 18 years.
The ideal solution would be for Hurst to resign and Fenty to pretend to be disappointed.

No Golly, the ideal situation would be for Fenty to resign (and write off his benign loans).
The Fishy is in that state of transition at the moment between, from the please don't go to the 'I always thought he was shit and an arsehole'. Pretty much what happened with Podge really. Jilted John all over again.
I think Hurst could do OK for us this season if he stayed. We've had these blips with him in past seasons but it mattered more then than now. I won't shed a tear if he goes. Not been his biggest fan (understatement of the week) but not telling him to fuck off either*. His non-appearance for the press conference post-match looks odd if he's not in line for the Shrews job. If he's not a quick appearance and a simple, 'no' from him would have done. Can't blame a man for going for a better job, but I doubt Shrewsbury is. * that ear-cupping will come back to bite him if he does go though.
Then there's these rumours about the Mullens being frozen out. Could be no substance to them, but it wouldn't surprise me either.
The club's statement the other day was unequivocal. If it turns out not to have been true, or even mealy mouthed, that wouldn't surprise a lot of people either.
At this rate, I fully expect to see GTFC nominated in the BAFTAs for Best Continuing Drama.

At this rate, I fully expect to see GTFC nominated in the BAFTAs for Best Continuing Drama. Sadly Fenty isn't going anywhere unless a very wealthy person appears from nowhere. Fenty owns over 50% of the club so the Mullen Family ultimately don't matter whether they are chummy with Fenty or not. Re: the club's statement... The truth at 10AM on Friday morning isn't necessarily the truth at 11AM on Friday morning. Re: Wembley ear cupping... It shows the sort of man Hurst is. Actually he should have been grateful to get a 5th season to try and achieve promotion and well aware that with every passing season the patience of the fans would be wearing thinner and thinner. I didn't see or hear any personal abuse of him last season. I held the opinion he should have been sacked in May 2014 and May 2015 and at various other points between and after those dates, but it was nothing personal against him. I too think Hurst can do an OK job for us this season, but I expect the club's ambition to be more than to do OK. Momentum is hard to gain and very easy to lose. Look at Bristol Rovers and Barnet who got promoted a season before us.
